Good day!

Our flights were long but uneventful and we arrived in Auckland mid day on Saturday (Friday in Calgary) to a state of emergency due to incoming Cyclone Gabrielle!! So we collected our bags, collected our car and headed for our tiny apartment on the North Shore of Auckland. Don't worry Janine, Pierre is driving.

The word on the street is to hunker down until this is over, so we headed to the store for provisions - you know - the basics: wine, beer and a bit of food!!

We are quite protected in our apartment so we are staying here until the worst has passed! Where we had planned to go tomorrow is all closed off due to slips (local lingo for mudslides) and flooding so we are trying to figure out where might be safe and maybe even some sun!
