Hello again,
Well this has certainly been an adventure in planning! We left Auckland yesterday, against the advice of our host, to venture to Raglan. She and a few other people were skeptical that we could get there. We had to take a back road because the main road was washed out. But with the help of a roads department escort through some flooding and slips we made it!

Raglan is a surfing town, much like Tofino. Our place is a tiny house, possibly a shipping container? but it has everything we need and is quiet and rural.

It was super windy all night but we woke to calm sunny skies! And a rainbow!

We also woke to the news that most of the rest of the island (many of the places we were to go) was devastated by the Gabrielle overnight!! But not here!!! We were so smart (ok, lucky?) to go against the advice.

Today we went on a short walk to Bridal Veil falls - I think there is one everywhere! It is so beautiful and lush!

Then we went to for a beach walk.

So, other than having to totally rethink the rest of our trip, it was a wonderful day!!
