Off to Tramore – Sept 6 – 7

We rode a double decker bus through Dublin to the airport to pick up our rental car! What a great way to see parts of Dublin one doesn't often see as a tourist.

Our car is a compact Volkswagen SUV, right hand drive with a manual transmission! Great challenge for Pierre to change gears with his left hand. Sheila is the navigator along with google.

We managed to get away from the airport without too many stalls and wrong turns. We pulled off the motorway first chance we had to get breakfast and take a deep breath. Im sure we will get used to this soon… Our destination is Tramore, a coastal town where we planned on a sea kayaking cave adventure. We arrived to gale force winds and high surf and a cancellation notice from the company.

This published photo was what we hoped for, not what we experienced!

Our hotel was, shall we say, old and tired, as was the town. We were directed to a classic Irish pub for dinner, that too, was old and tired. Once back in our room where some loose part of the hotel was banging against the roof, Pierre discovered black mold in the bathroom. He has a bad allergy to it, so we decided to skedaddle the next morning and find a new place to stay.
